New Hobby…

Read the whole excerpt here :

I know I’ve been kind of missing from posting around here for a few days but I’ve been absenting motivated – if I can put it that way. Promise to make it up for the days I haven’t been around here. Some great stuff coming along so, stay close ! 🙂

A few months ago, my dad challenged me to try to translate a book I’ve read. Thanks Dad, challenge happily taken ! It’s not just about this being a thrown challenge at me by my parent, it’s more as a “let’s see how good you are with this english thing you love so much.” At first I did not want to do it – because of that big pile of self-doubt that was crashing down on me – but after a strong debate with myself I’ve decided to give it a try.
What can actually be going wrong besides making a big fool of myself ?

Oh, well.

Translating has always been a thing of mine and if ever given the chance to actually do it, I’ll be more than happy to. I have always been the one in my family with a calling towards foreign languages, but never have I ever tried to translate a book. I’ve been so scared of a failure, you can’t imagine.
To my surprise, it all went down really good, smooth actually, and I can’t express how happy I am that not only the final result of – a day spent translating – my work has turned out that great, but more that I made someone happy – even a little bit.

So, after reading Shannon A. Thompson‘s blog post from last saturday, about Author Goals, and finding out her own beautiful goals, I have decided to surprise her.
I know that maybe having your book – as an author, of course – getting published in another language represents a huge step in the writing career, other than being a NYT Bestselling author. Anyway, I have translated for her the first two chapters of her first book in The Timely Death Trilogy called Minutes Before Sunset into Romanian. If you haven’t read this series, yet, I advise you to do so. It is totally worth it !

Now let me tell you something about this wonderful young lady named Shannon A. Thompson in case you never heard of her :

  • she is an extraordinary young girl with a big heart and the list can go on – I had the opportunity to have a chat or two with her and she’s absolutely amazing.
  • she’s a very promising writer – I’m saying this based on the fact that I’ve read some of her work, and for that I’m sending her again a huge Thank you !
  • she’s very down to earth and that makes her even more lovable – I like it when authors take their time out – even for a few minutes – to interact with their readers. I think that could be another plus added to their writing career – but I’ll be talking about this some other time.

About Cristina

I started this blog for quite a few reasons: 1. To share my opinions about books I read. (I'm open to recommendations) 2. To express myself in the only way that I love, which is of course writing 3. To connect with people with whom I may share the same interests I read and write because it offers me an escape door from the world we live in. A door which allows me to be whomever I want to be, live wherever in this big world, set off on adventures and most of all because it brings my imagination back to life from its very very long sleep. And of course...Because I love to !! Here are some basic things about your host and writer.. My name is Cristina and I come from Bucharest ( also known as The Little Paris ) were I was born, raised and am currently - still - living. I’ve finished my studies a few years ago and got my bachelor degree at Dimitrie Cantemir University, in my hometown; in Economics. I have to admit that this specialty wasn't my first choice. I have been weighing my choices – as in, to what they can provide me in future – both while I was still in high school and after. Initially I wanted to go to Foreign Languages, but I had a big fall the moment I saw that it wasn't acredited – huge disappointment washed over me. I am still a bit disappointed about that to be honest. I have a huge passion for writing ever since I was little, and even if I had times when I didn't (or couldn't) write anything, now I am right back on track. My dad is the only one who knows how much passion I put into what I write and doesn't giggle or grin when I bring it up. I love having someone’s support no matter how little it is,it still means so much to me. Love, Cris ♥ Hope that those who will follow me like what I post around here and - why not - maybe give some ideas about new topics. :) If anyone wants to add something on the blog please contact me at
