YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK !!!
I have enjoyed reading it at maximum, and at some point I even got lost in it completely. And not just once, have I been standing on the edge while reading it. The action is really exciting and intense, that you can even feel it. As for the characters, they are very unique, lovable and really well developed. I’m telling you, Shannon is a very promising young writer.
The book is very good written, very compulsive and captivating. And I think that the split POV allows both characters equal space to develop. By the end of the book, we feel that we know them very well, which I always think is the most enjoyable aspect of reading the story.
Minutes Before Sunset is the first instalment in “The Timely Death Trilogy” which takes place in a magical realm where Dark and Light aren’t what we all know they are.Things are actually deceiving at first, until you get into the heart of it and fully understand the reasons behind the big “why” question.
Eric Wleborn – also known as Shoman – is a teenager who is half human and half shade, more precisely a Dark shade. Being a shade means that he has the power to transform – when needed – only that, he is having a hard time with who he really is. And there is more to just being a shade. Eric’s world has been rocked by tragedy and his obligations weigh heavily on his shoulders, making him a loner, who fears to care for anyone, lest they be taken away from him. However, two encounters are about to change his life – one with Jessica Taylor, a new student at his high school and another, with a powerful, nameless shade, ignorant of her birthright and as such vulnerable to not only his shade community who do not trust outsiders, but also to the Light. He breaks the rules by not reporting her to his Elders, and trains her to develop and control her powers, but cannot reveal all his secrets to her.
Jessica Taylor – known as Jess – committed to finding out about her deceased biological family who were local to the town. This task appears impossible at first, as she is assigned with the taciturn Eric Welborn on a science project. Eric is distant and preoccupied, often skipping class and is disinterested in completing the project with her. However, not only will Jessica not fail her science project, but she also wants to find out more about his secrets and at the same time she feels drawn to him.
The book is about a Prophecy that talks about the Ultimate Battle Between Dark And Light. The ones who will be battling are the descendants of both sides. The Elders no more than they led on.
As the Ultimate Battle between the two major powers, approaches, Shoman must devote himself to the training he is in and remain focused. Unfortunately, his thoughts drift away to the namless shade who grows more and more powerful and he is also distracted by Jessica, who piques his human side. When the key players in the Light closes in on Eric, he must protect those he cares about and keep himself alive until the battle starts – a battle he fears that he is destined to lose. Yet, when he discovers that the Dark Elders have lied by omission about key elements of the prophecy, he feels deceived and the events which ensue, threaten dire consequence for all he holds dear.
